COMTRADE’S SOFTWARE FOR NATO’S ALLIANCE GROUND SURVEILLANCE (AGS) SYSTEM
In December 2016 Comtrade announced it has developed a software solution for NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) System as an industrial partner of Airbus Defence and Space under the surveillance of Slovenian Government Quality Assurance (GQA). The solution is a part of the Mobile General Ground Station (MGGS) component of the AGS System which enables persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance over wide areas with the use of Remotely Piloted Aircrafts (RPAs). The NATO-owned and operated AGS Core capability provides long range, wide-area ground surveillance utilizing sensors on board of Remotely Piloted Aircrafts (RPAs) operating at a very high altitude. The AGS Core provides continuous near-real-time data on friendly, neutral, and opposing ground forces under all weather conditions using advanced radar detection technology and other sensors.
The AGS Core system is composed of an air segment, various transportable and mobile ground stations and a support segment. The Mobile General Ground Station (MGGS) includes several solutions consisting of an exploitation component (MGEC) and a communication component (MGCC). The MGEC is installed in an easily deployable truck-loaded shelter. It has the capability to request, process, store, correlate, display, analyse and exploit GMTI and SAR data as well as other sensor data and exploited products. In addition, the MGEC provides the ability to receive sensor data and distribute data and information either directly from/to connected interoperable NATO and/or national C3I systems through various communication networks or indirectly through the MGCC. Comtrade’s software engineers developed an export/import formatter (e/iF) for various NATO’s geospatial Standardization Agreements (STANAGs) together with the simulators used for the military equipment testbed. They have also contributed to the new database design used by the solution.
In August 2016, the solution passed formal software acceptance.
